MVFF UK CHAMPIONSHIPS 2025

Military Veterans Fly Fishing UK Championships at Rutland Water last year, this year’s Championship Llyn Clywedog Trout Fishery Trout Fishery.

A great turnout of 24 anglers including local guest angler the legendary Alice Davies. But a special thanks goes to Hafren Forest Hideaway for their amazing hospitality.

The fishing was outstanding with the rod average of around 9.2 fish per day, and a total of 443 caught, having being my first visit to Clywedog i can honestly say that this has to be in the top two fisheries in the UK, the staff, the standard of the fish and the facilities are just outstanding.

After a close first day with Phil Thomas on 18, Steven Mcarthur on 15 and David Ogg on 17, day two was sure to be a close run thing. As we came back to the jetty Steve had a great day with 25, however Phil just fell short with 14 and David had 5.

All anglers we invited to an evening meal at Hafren on the Sunday night, what an absolutely amazing set up Sarah and Darren provided for us and we can’t thank them enough for their hospitality.

We would like to thank all the anglers who support the club and without you and your characters it just wouldn’t be the same. We had some great fishing but most of all some great banter, with a serious of Oscars being handed out for various misshapes over the two days, exactly what the club is about.
